Honors Geometry 9-8-10

Hello, fellow classmates!
Today we learned about the differences between objects and measurements. Here are a few examples:
___
AB - Object
AB - Measurement, number

That is for line segments or lines. We also learned how to write the measure of angles and how to express angles in minutes and seconds and converting those minutes and seconds into decimals. Here are examples:
- writing measurement of an angle.

18 degrees 42' 12''- minute/second script. 18 is the whole number of the degree, while 42' means 42 minutes and 12'' means 12 seconds. Now, we know there are 60 minutes in an hour (which is our whole) and 60 seconds in a minute. so to get the 12'' into terms of an hour, you multiply 60 by 60 which is 3600. So your equation should end up looking something like this:

Sorry for the rough script of the fractions, but you're all smart people, so understand. any way, when you punch that in your calculator, you would end up with something like 18.70333333333.

I believe the last thing we went over in class was the difference between congruency and equality. I admit it, I was stumped there. But it related back to the beginning of the hour.

Congruency - objects
Equality - measurements, numbers
                                 ___                      ___
An example of this is AB is congruent to CD. Line segments are simply objects.Congruency states that two objects are the same, while equality states that two measurements are the same.

Oh, one more thing. Congruent angles are marked with either loop ) or two loops )) inside the angle depending on which angles they are congruent to. With lines, it's just hash marks. One or two, just like above.

Well, that about wraps up my summary of what we learned today. I hope it helped you if you needed it, and remember : you can't be afraid to be wrong in this class. We all learn best from mistakes.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm
